Synopsis
'Nanase Haruka(Haru)', 2nd year high school student who fanatical in 'water' as his liveliness, when he see water, he can't tolerate, but run into it...Although, he never care about his (statistic) time (when he swim), he was once in swim club in his junior high school and won the relay race. However, he unexpectedly resigned from the swim club and no longer involved with the club. Until one day, his friends, 'Nagisa' and 'Makoto' persuade him to create the swim club of Iwatobi high school with them...One day, Haru met his old friend, 'Matsuoka Rin' who has just come back from his studied in Australia. Rin is the person who has some past which imprinted in Haru's mind...Rin returned to Japan and challenge a swimming race with Haru who always said, 'I only swim Free'.

Story and context
Free! Iwatobi Swim Club based on the original of Light Novel, 'High☆Speed!', and was adapted to this current Free!The story of this Anime, emphasising on the atmosphere of high school students who addict to swimming which includes student who determines his target and try his best to reach his dream, also students who live aimlessly, but delight in the water.
Nanase Haruka, one of main characters who always says that he only swim free or Freestyle. By the way, whoever see his swimming gesture, absolutely will impress in his beautiful swimming style.
Because of Nagisa has the idea to create a swimming club, he decided to persuade Haruka and Makoto to partake in the club. However, the club must have at least 4 members together with consulting teacher...
Haru has some feeling about the relay swimming which embed in his mind. The relay (medley) swimming is a swimming style that consist of 4 swimmers who have their queue to swim, by swim Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly stroke and then Freestyle. This swimming race is a swimming style which swimmers have to use their harmonise and believe in each other which can lead to their success...

Nanase Haruka - Second year high school student of Iwatobi school who addict to the touch of water. He is a person who rarely to smile, however, he always loves and cares his friends. Although he can swim only one style which is Freestyle, he is capable to swim it as beautiful as he can, while not even ever care with his time.(If readers watch this Anime, any clues will be reveal itself)

My opinion
In my opinion after finished 12 chapters of the Anime. In the beginning, the story quite plain and tardily, just to introduce the main story and each characters. After that, when author was continue watching this Anime, it had a stronger plot with complicate friendship that readers will be able to get into the story because almost all of us may sensed this kind of feeling once time in our life. This includes happiness, sadness, loneliness and gratefulness...leave-taking and meet each other once again. This anime also reflects about dream, hope and purpose of life. In contrast, there is someone who satisfy only by doing things that create happiness for him, by not concern about his future...
As I've heard, there is some feedback for this anime (almost female) who prefer to pair male and male (boy's love), the author has to admit, that author prefer to watch and read only pair between male and female (in this point, author doesn't aims to make any upset to who prefer different pair as author because author also has friends who prefer to watch or read homosexual. However, author's type of watch and read is only pair between male and female...) Author think, that some readers might afraid that this anime will be male and male or not? Author would like to confirm that the nature of this story is "represents only friendship". That most teenagers probably had a moment of fickle emotion like this anime...
In this 1st season, there is only 1 scene that almost make author stop watching the anime because a little bit afraid that this anime will be pair male and male or not? Nevertheless, that scene went smooth. The scene in author's opinion is the scene which could be considered as alter point for anime's consumers as us (to decide, continue or stop watching...Although that scene is looks as a necessary action for that character to do). As the author stated above, this anime is okay and emphasising on friendship...For readers who are not prefer boy's love type,the author would like to state that this anime is "survived". (In the 2nd season will be even more clear relation of friendship).
To sum up, this anime is not run promptly and quickly, also not focusing on sport tactics and techniques as some others sport anime...However, this anime mixed with a balance of sport's admiration (swimming) and school's life of these characters. This could be arranged as chilled and relax anime with some interesting points that made audiences suspicious. Additionally, some scenes could make audiences push forward. In the end of this 1st season, ended as a clear view that it will has next story (that it was released 2nd season after that).
Readers who worry about male and male relationship, the author can confirm, that, if readers who would like to believe (or imaging) as boy's love pair, they could. However, the core that this anime represented tends to be "friendship" more than male and male for sure. So, readers who have read all above and feel like to try this anime, author also would like to recommend this anime for you. ^_^
